Regular flights to Sofia including low cost EasyJet almost fully booked. Strong ski season expected.
If you have not bought your tickets for 2007/2008 Bansko winter holiday season you may have to fly to Tessaloniki (Greece) and head to Bansko by taxi in February 2008. Low cost EasyJet announced increase of its scheduled flights from 3 a week to 5 a week due to the massive demand one month before starting to fly to Sofia from London Gatwick airport.
EasyLet - website shows that there are no tickets London Gatwick - Sofia return cheaper than £ 260 if you decide to ski Bansko slopes between 14-24 February 2008.
Increased trafic is an excellent sign for Bansko property owners. Travel agencies now report increasing demand in new markets like Poland, Romania, Hungary and some other "new" Europe countries. With building regulations getting tougher in in Bansko ski resort , which practically ends new construction rumours for market slowdown are considered by leading agents as exagarated. First resale properties enetered the market and deals are done at 40-50% premium from acquisition price.
Bansko has two-tier property market in which many excellent developments never ever reach local estate agents' offices. "Shopping around" for a bargain property has seen many foreign buyers calling from Bansko desparately agents around the world in search of what they've seen during International property exhibitions. Recent research proved that 85% of all deals and preliminary contracts are signed far away from local agent's offices. This makes Bansko property market very different from what's known in Spain or France.
In a move to sell fast their developments in Rila mountains some new entrants in the Bulgarian property market with zero local knowledge started to distribute ridiculous stories about Bansko snow record not knowing for instance that the town is locked between Pirin and Rila mountains. Beware of "experts" who have never seen a local map!
