Bansko ski resort - some notes
It becomes obvious that Bansko ski resort in Bulgaria has expanded so fast that its growth in size for such a short period of time remained not well understood by many.
Some facts:
1. Wherever one looks around in the most dymanyc part of Europe - the new European Union members there is no such winter resort with skiing facilities and infrastructure like the small town under Pirin mountains. With an overall of 70 km. of groomed ski runs , most family friendly red ones and at least 90-100 km. of slopes available for free-ride skiers and snowboarders, neither Poland, nor Slovakia or any other country from the new EU entrants may rival this place in the comming years. With the development of Kulinoto ski zone, which will add additional 45 - 75 km. ski piste , only 12 km. to the West the area becomes prime winter resort spot , which will continue to tempt many with affordable skiing in the years to come.
2. Many are tempted to make negative judgements about Bansko as a ski resort based either on investment expectations that were not met , or simplistic comparisons with French , Austrian or Italian ski resort places in the Alps which have 60-70 years history... Bansko is not Meribel and everyone , who have visited both places can confirm it. At the same, those who are realistic see that this Bulgarian winter resort area provides improving conditions for skiing and other winter and summer sports and leisure activities at prices much more affordable than the established Alpine resorts.
