Pirin Golf to host Bulgarian Amateur Golf Championship 2008

Golfers to play the first of its type alpine golf course in the country and Central and Eastern Europe.
 
The last competition from the Bulgarian National Golf Championship Series – 2008 will be played on the first class golf course at "Pirin Golf and Country Club" near the town of Razlog.
The competition will be played on 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday (11 and 12 October). The event is being considered as one of the most important in the Bulgarian Golf Association calendar. The format of the competition will be "singles medal". Only Bulgarian nationals will play for the trophies in 4 categories – men, ladies, junior female and junior male.

The hosts from Pirin Golf and Country Club will be providing maximum comfort to all participants as well as to official guests including leading Bulgarian business people.
The central, 18-hole, par 72 golf course at Pirin Golf and Country Club is designed by the world-renowned golfer and designer Ian Woosnam and is a challenge for every golfer. The incredible backdrop and unspoiled nature in the area will additionally contribute to the pleasurable experience of participants and guests.

Official trials are planned for Friday (10 October 2008). All participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the best Bulgarian golf resort. Participants in the golf competition must have European Golf Association handicap. The award ceremony will take place on 12 October followed by drinks.

The development of Pirin Golf and Country Club started 3 years ago when Ian Woosnam was assigned for the design of the main course. The official opening of the golf club is planned for the spring of 2009. The Golf academy will become one of the main training centers for golf professionals and golf tuition in Europe. Future plans for the development include expansion with the new 18-hole Pine course (5 holes already built). With 36 holes of quality golf , Pirin Golf and Country Club will become soon one of the few alpine golf resorts in Europe.
